1) PAINTER AND UGLY
Written and Illustrated by Robert J. Blake

I stayed with a family in North Pole, Alaska, that had two children participating in the Jr. Iditarod. I helped feed the dogs and even mushed the dogs. A dog named Painter became my favorite. He was a nice dog but his best friend, a dog named Ugly (no kidding!) had been sold to another team. I began to wonder- what would happen if Painter and Ugly were both racing in the Jr. Iditarod, but on different teams? Would they try to get back together?

Philomel Books release date: January 20, 2011
2) LITTLE DEVILS
Written and Illustrated by Robert J. Blake

While living in Australia for two years, I asked my readers what marsupial they would like me to make a book about. Tasmanian Devils won! So I went down to Tasmania (several times) and moved into a fishing shack on the rugged coast of Marrawah- and watched, wrote, and drew about the amazing Tasmanian Devils I saw in the wild!

5) SANTA PAWS:
THE PICTURE BOOK
Written by Ellen Emerson White
Illustrated by Robert J. Blake

I liked painting the scene in the beginning with the dog poking around the garbage cans- old fish bones, half eaten pizza and a cat food can...what could be more fun to paint!

While traveling and painting around Ireland I befriended an old man described by some as a hermit. He told me that his dog had no name. But since he kept calling it "Dog", I told him that must be the animal's name. He disagreed.
This book is very special to me.
